Voiceover: a Niche for Actors

A voiceover is a technique that utilizes an actor’s voice for the purposes of narrative. A voiceover actor records his or her voice in order to provide a narrative to any presentation. There are many techniques and uses for a voiceover. They are used for animated films where the character is a representation of someone, or something, and a voice actor is needed to add a voice to the animated character. They are used to add a creative device to a presentation by informing the viewers of what they are seeing. It is also used to give information over a presentation, and are more widely used as a translation device. The recorded audio is imposed over a film or video’s actor voice to provide a real-time translation for viewers of another language. Voice actors are employed to provide these recorded audio bits, and can be quite a lucrative job as voiceovers are used more and more today.
